Predictions For Journalism 2019 - Research

Every year there are some opinions based on facts that are projected. These facts are projected based on what individuals think is going to happen with journalism in the 12 month span. I will be picking three that I think are most likely going to take place in the next year.


Prediction one this one comes from Nicholas Jackson, he states “Readers are paying attention — that’s what you want, isn’t it? — and they now have the tools to push back and to challenge our decisions."


What this prediction is saying is that the advance to local news stations are starting to question the credibility of that news source. This is because of all the other resources at the publics finger tips. They are able to look up information for their self. News outlets are aware of this and that is why they are starting to back up their stories with other sources.


Yes, I do agree with this prediction technology and the sources are growing along with that so this gives the public the power to look topics up and verify for their self is a story is true or untrue.


Prediction two this prediction comes from Tushar Banerjee, stating "Interactive Ads will be the new face of display advertising"


What this is saying is interactive advertisements are going to start taking traditional advertisements place when it comes to the internet. This is because consumers like the interactive power of the display advertisement.


Yes, I do agree that this is going to happen within the next year, in fact it is already happing. Consumers like the interacting power of an ad they like an ad that will bring them right to the product that they are reading about or looking at. This prediction will take over probably sooner than the next 12 month period.


Prediction three this prediction comes from Whitney Phillips, she is stating " Our information systems aren't broken- they are working as intended."


This prediction is saying that the media is full of negatives that increase a humans anxiety and the mean world effect of thinking that the world is mean and terrible. It is being said that is is working and that is what the media likes to put out there because it is what gets the most attention. So this is working for the media. But, Whitney hopes that and thinks that people will start seeing more that this is just what the media whats us to think.


She says that the public audience will start seeing through this ploy and become more free thinking.

Yes, I do agree with this prediction, I believe that the public already is becoming more free thinking and the public is starting to be able to see through the medias ploys and that trend will just continue to grow.


Never the less, We will see if these predictions turn out after all.
